Supplemental reading list for Aug. 7, 2015

These are the leftovers from Friday … not necessarily the lesser, I just got too tired to try to intelligently comment on them … of course, I know you all have your own opinion of my intelligence but I can live with that.

I was a 13E at one point, before becoming an 11C, 19D and 46R/Q. That 13Fs are not admitting women yet ... well those are the forward observers and run with the 11-series MOS boys (infantry) and the 19 series (clank-clank, I am a tank), so I guess there still is a limit on how far forward into combat the Army wants to push women.

Two points for Sen. Bernie Sanders. It is sort of like Daniel going into the lions' den ... but in reverse.

Mr. Alonzo Rachel being at what he does best: totally politically incorrect ... according to progressives, liberals and most Democrats

This woman is so totally racist it isn't even funny. Sorry, ma'am, but hairstyles can be worn by anyone. If you don't like it, then you are the one with the problem. You see, from my viewpoint, it is her attitude toward assimilation that it the problem and illustrates the whole problem with the multi-cultural approach. Assimilation is where an incoming culture blends with the existing culture, often changing it in many ways but always adhering to the existing culture's original core values. Separate but equal, ma'am, is unequivocally wrong ... you don't like that, then go to another country.  Unfortunately, in today's African-American community, after being denied assimilation for so many centuries, now that it is available to them, they reject it. And they wonder why people who went before them, from whatever culture, and assimilated say: WTF?

Well, the Aurora shooter gets to spend the rest of his life in a Colorado prison. It is better than assigning him to a mental institution. Sorry, you kill 12 people in your community - insane or not - you have forfeited your right to live free in a civilized society. Unfortunately, the families' would have preferred his death, which would have been justified in my opinion, but this really (probably) is the cheaper alternative ... assuming that "without parole" actually means what it says.

Interesting hypothesis. I have no doubt that the social media and internet will have ever larger impact on how people vote. But I find their solution rather bizarre ... more government control, or at least that is what I seem to be hearing implicated. It seems that voters are too stupid to be allowed to vote, but only smart people like the researchers are smart enough. It really gets old sometimes, watching the progressive mantra play out.

Sometimes I wonder how long the Russians will put up with Czar Putin. You want to know why millions of people are starving around the world? Well, it ain't due to the lack of food. It is because of interruptions in the food distribution by power hungry hacks like Putin.

Sen. Schumer offers a cogent defense for voting down the Iran Deal.  Which might passed both the House and Senate, but not by enough a margin to override the inevitable veto by President Obama. Unfortunately, not enough Democrats will see the validity in his concerns, including, my own Maine Sen. Angus King, who says he is an Independent but caucuses with the Democrats.

Bipartisan reports agrees that the IRS did target conservative groups. Democrats,  you don't agree? Is the mantra you always toss around about "disparate impact" valid here as it is as in say requiring people to have IDs in order to vote?

Taylor Swift in China - yet another example of kowtowing to the Middle Kingdom?

Seven countries facing bankruptcy due to debt load ... the question is: How far behind is the US?

I sort of laughed at this - 25 things Americans do that are offensive somewhere around the world - and think about how many things done around the world are offensive to Americans. I think for too long Americans' longing to be loved by everybody has gotten in the way of looking out for our own interests.
