Big OOPSIE!

Jihadiis behead wrong guy

It seems the Al Qaeda folks fighting in Syria against the Assad Regime beheaded what they thought was a member of a rival group that was in league with the government. They posted the grisly head on the internet.

OOPS!

It seems it was the head of the leader of one of their allies in the fight. Bad show, guys.

But, then taking a page from the book of the American president, President Barack Obama, they apologized and said they were sorry. It was all a mistake and not to hold it against them.

HMMMMM …

I guess if it works for President Obama with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act fiasco, then it should work for some Middle Eastern terrorists … who at least are fighting for the right cause (I think, but I haven’t checked the scorecard or the program to see who I am supposed to be rooting for here – it is awfully confusing trying to keep the players straight).

So what if it isn’t fair, or even legal for that matter, if I say I am sorry then all is OK and nobody needs to care.

You see, following the rules isn’t necessary, especially if it means trying to apply that archaic concept called the “rule of law.” Nah, it is better just to lop off people’s heads and then try to figure out what they did … you know, sort of like: Kill them all and let God sort it out.

And then if the rules you impose have all sorts of unintended consequences, especially to your allies (or people you want to be your allies), you can suspend the rules for them and blame it on someone else.

For the record: It is my humble opinion is that if we are going to have rules/laws, then it obligation of those of us covered by them to make a good faith effort to at least try to abide by them until or unless the law is changed and/or repealed. And that those who are charged with enforcing the rules do so with diligence and care that it is their responsibility to do it fairly and equitably and without arbitrary selective enforcement.

Lopping off people’s heads just because you think they are bad guys is not really permitted. You might shoot them, if  you have reason to believe that they are the enemy, but you better be ready to defend that act to the disinterested judges who are sitting on the sidelines just waiting to pounce.

(SO) Oh, and if you disagree with any of the above, your are a racist bigot xenophobe who is blinded by your ideological hatred of someone different and guilty of crimes not committed in your name by generations preceding you. (SO)

* (SO) alternately means Sarcasm ON or Sarcasm OFF, depending on its position in relation to the comment so bracketed. Just being politic there and, hence, you have been advised of your rights.

Only in America

Billy Krystal on Letterman as Romney

It is one of the things I absolutely love about being an American: Being able to mock and parody people – especially public figures like political candidates – with virtual impunity.

Billy Krystal, who is a very funny comedic actor, just leaves me in stitches all the time and he doesn’t fail here in his appearance on the late night TV show with David Letterman.

Now, I know that Letterman supports President Obama, as does Krystal, and that doesn’t bother me at all. It bothers me that Letterman seems so upset that his entertainment show apparently will not be a campaign stop for the Romney campaign bus. Get real, man, you obviously are hostile, so why go there?

Still, I think Krystal is a gem and this was absolutely hilarious. Besides, there is an element of truth to it, which is what makes parody and satire so effective.

Time to hit the streets

Egyptian Imam burns Bible pages

Everybody, man your battlestations! It is time to hit the streets and hold riots. Mobs need to burn Egyptian flags and to besiege the Egyptian Embassy or consulates nearest you.

It seems that some conservative, right-wing fanatic Egyptian imam (Islamic cleric like a Christian pastor) tore up a New Testament outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Eqypt, and burned the pages. Of course, his government has had him arrested and charged with insulting Christianity, but are we satisfied?

NEVER!

It is not enough; we need to hold our own riots here over the burning of the American flag and other insults to our national pride.

Insulting Christianity, indeed … although I do wonder if he was taking on the Baptists or the Catholics, or was it the Church of God, or the Methodists, the Lutherans or the Presbyterians, Greek Orthodox or the Mormons. Heck, how do I know?

Anyway, let’s see today is Friday, 9/28/12, the Islamic holy day, so I guess it is time for large masses of us Americans who are just really ticked off over the way this fall’s presidential election campaign is going with all those idiotic  television ads and robocalls to your house all day, that we need to find the nearest Egyptian consulate and sack it. Not that our election has anything to do with it, but it will give us a chance to vent and divert our attention from the candidates running for various offices.

Obviously, our government will understand. I mean President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apologized for that idiot out in California who put up that video mocking the Islamic prophet (pboh), Mohammed, and said how they understood Muslims killing an American ambassador in response … it was senseless they said, but they understood how the Muslims could feel insulted and so it was the Americans’ fault.

Now, where was my directory of diplomatic facilities in the U.S.? Where did I put it? Dang, it must be around here somewhere. Maybe I can find it in the Yellow Pages … does the phone company even put out a Yellow Pages book anymore? My phone company doesn’t.

Oh, well, I guess I will just have to stay home then. (Y’all might do so too … it wouldn’t be nice to sack embassies and consulates anyway.)
